UltraISO is a Windows utility for working with CD and DVD image files, especially ISO files. It gives you a central place to create image files from your computer, open existing disc images, adjust their contents, convert less common formats into ISO, and burn images to physical media.

The main advantage is breadth. UltraISO can directly modify an image without forcing you to rebuild everything from scratch, and it can extract files from discs when you need to recover or reuse their contents. It also supports formats such as BIN and NRG, then converts them to standard ISO format, which is useful if you deal with older archives or mixed sources. For users making custom discs, it can preserve bootable information, an important detail when preparing startup media.

There are a few practical extras as well. UltraISO can optimize file structures to reduce wasted space inside an image, and it includes CD audio extraction. It is also described as lightweight, so it is not intended to place heavy demands on system resources, and its processing is one of its stronger points.

The main drawback is presentation. The double-window layout gives access to many tools, but it can feel crowded at first. New users may need a little time to understand where the key actions are, and the trial version has limitations. It is not the friendliest choice if you only need to open an ISO once.
