SHAREit for Windows is a file sharing tool built for moving photos, videos, music, documents, and apps between devices without relying on mobile data, an active internet connection, or Bluetooth. Instead, it creates a private wireless hotspot between nearby devices, letting you choose files and send them directly.

Its biggest strength is compatibility. SHAREit works across Windows, Android, iOS, and Mac, making it useful if your devices are not all from the same brand. It can also share one file with as many as five devices at once, which is handy for families, classrooms, or small workgroups. Transfers can reach up to 20 MB/s over Wi-Fi, and unlike many messaging or email services, SHAREit does not impose a file size limit. Files are also kept in their original quality, so songs, images, and documents are not compressed during transfer.

The Windows version is especially useful as a central sharing point, since it can create the hotspot quickly and exchange files with phones and tablets. There are also extra tools, including a file manager, media playback features, chat, app sharing, a Safebox for private photos and videos, and a remote option for controlling PowerPoint presentations on a PC or Mac.

That said, SHAREit is not as focused as it could be. The interface includes a lot of advertising and extra content, which can make simple file transfers feel busier than necessary. Some of the added features are more useful on mobile than on Windows, such as cleaning tools and phone cloning. Performance can also dip when using media features while transferring files. Older Windows systems, especially Windows XP, may have less stable connections, and iPhone or iPad setup can require more care.

Overall, SHAREit is best for users who frequently move large files between mixed devices and want an offline alternative to cloud sharing. If you can tolerate the ads and extra features, it remains a practical, flexible tool for everyday file transfers.
