This is an open-source and account-free substitute application for the Google Play Store.
This is an app store for Android and carries the extra benefit of not needing to have an account to download anything. All of the apps are open source and their source code is freely available to every developer can tweak things to his personal ideal. Despite having a smaller library than Google's marketplace, there is still a good deal of variety and functionality available.
F-Droid differs from Google Play in that none of its apps are paid or exclusively licensed. Every app on this storefront uses a free license like Apache or GPL. The perk of never needing a user account is due to F-Droid's unwillingness to store your data or ask for a profile. You can even download multiple iterations of an app in to avoid incompatible or inferior versions; Google Play only offers the most current versions of apps.
F-Droid's search feature is represented by a magnifying lens. Any installed applications on the platform show up as "Installed." Searching through the app can be done with a variety of specific interests. Unfortunately, categories are less defined than on Google Play and apps lack screenshots.
