Fast file copying for Windows with detailed controls
FastCopy is a Windows file transfer utility built for users who copy, move, or sync large amounts of data and want more control than the standard copy function provides. It works with common storage types such as SSDs, USB flash drives, and external drives, making it useful for backups, media libraries, project folders, and bulk file transfers.
The main appeal is speed and stability. FastCopy is designed to improve read and write performance, and user testing has reported transfers up to twice as fast as Windows’ basic copy and paste in some cases. It also keeps you informed during a job, showing practical details such as transferred megabytes, elapsed time, file counts, and copy rate.
FastCopy is especially helpful when a transfer runs into problem files. Instead of stopping the entire operation, it can skip locked or corrupted items and record them in a log, so the rest of the job continues without constant supervision. You can also adjust buffer memory, control copy speed, preview actions, set include and exclude filters, choose how errors are logged, and work with Unicode and long file names.
Usability is more mixed. FastCopy can be used from the Windows Explorer context menu once its shell option is enabled, which makes it convenient for repeated use. However, the main interface is plain and not very friendly to beginners. Some settings use technical labels such as ACL and AltStream, and the help material may feel difficult if you are not already familiar with file system terminology.
There is also a Pro version for more advanced needs, adding extra operation modes, file verification after transfer, and checks for possible silent data corruption.
FastCopy is best suited to users who regularly handle large transfers and are willing to learn a slightly technical tool. For occasional copying, Windows’ built-in option may be simpler. For heavy file management, FastCopy can save time and reduce interruptions.
