The core rules are easy to understand. Characters, known as Legends, can fight barehanded, pick up weapons, and use throwable items such as bombs and mines. The roster is another major draw. There are many Legends, including crossover characters and cosmetic skins. The Borderlands crossover, for example, adds familiar character themes, animations, weapon skins, and personality touches without changing the underlying abilities. That means these additions refresh the look and feel without forcing players to learn entirely new mechanics.

Brawlhalla is best for players who want an accessible multiplayer fighter with short, energetic matches and flexible ways to play with friends. Full cross-play and custom rooms make it especially useful for groups across different platforms. Its main drawback is repetition: new additions often focus on characters, skins, weapons, and maps rather than major gameplay changes.
