Where MiChat tries to stand out is in its discovery options. The New Friendship section helps you find users nearby, while chatrooms let you join conversations based on shared interests. There is also a Message Tree feature, where users can leave text or voice messages for others to pick up and respond to. These tools make the app feel less like a private messenger only and more like a place for casual social interaction.

However, the app has important drawbacks. It does not offer voice or video calling, so it is not ideal if you want a full communication hub. There is also no online status indicator, which makes it harder to know whether someone is available. Contact suggestion notifications cannot be turned off, and unwanted friend requests cannot be removed easily.

The bigger concern is unwanted activity. The service has been linked with many spam and fraud accounts, including accounts promoting gambling or adult content. Reporting is available, but blocking options are limited, which may frustrate users who want tighter control over who can contact them.
