Imo-lite is an instant messaging application that's designed to be fully compatible with the full-sized Imo protocol. While it's a lightweight edition that make lack some features of the original program, it still enables users to text and call people who are running either type. Due to its small size, it may start faster on slower phones and should consume much less RAM.
As a result of all the emphasis placed on making this lighter than a full installation of Imo, the user interface was made as minimal as possible. That might make it difficult to read on some handsets, though this problem can be alleviated somewhat by changing the screen colors and altering some font options. Otherwise, the app works more or less like the original one did.
Users have ready access to their buddy list and can select contacts they want to get in touch with at any time. They can create group chats and place calls without any real difficulty. Since it's much faster than a full-sized instant messaging client would be, Imo-lite is great for situations where people might want to stay in touch with others quickly. In fact, it wouldn't be hard to replace a walkie-talkie or even your regular telephony service with Imo-lite as long as everyone you're trying to talk to has some sort of compatible app installed.
Texting through Imo-lite might actually go through faster than sending SMS messages in many cases, since it uses Internet connectivity rather than the publicly switched telephone service to send messages out to other users.
