Hi Dictionary

Hi Dictionary is a practical language tool for people who regularly meet unfamiliar words in chats, webpages, images, or copied text. It works as both a translator and a dictionary, with support for more than 100 languages, language detection, offline translation, and camera-based text translation.

Its most distinctive feature is the floating translator ball. Once enabled, it can sit above other content and help translate text without forcing you to leave the screen you are reading. When not needed, it can shrink into a small tab, and it can also be turned off. This makes it useful for reading messages, browsing foreign-language posts, or checking short phrases while using other services.

Hi Dictionary also includes a clipboard translation option. If you highlight text, you can open the extra options menu and send the selection to Hi Dictionary, which then shows the translation in a small pop-up. This is especially helpful for users who do not want to copy text, open a separate translator, paste it, and return to what they were doing.

Beyond basic translation, the app includes extras such as Word of the Day, suggested phrases related to searched words, translation access from the notification area, and the ability to help improve translations by correcting them. It can also translate chat bubbles, either by detecting the language automatically or by letting you choose the other person’s language.

There are some trade-offs. Several key features require special permissions, including accessibility access and permission to appear over other apps. The floating translator ball can also be a little awkward to reposition, and chat bubble translation may require placing it carefully. The language selection is broad, but not the widest available.

Hi Dictionary is best for users who want convenient everyday translation with fewer screen changes. If you are comfortable granting the required permissions, it offers a useful mix of dictionary, camera, clipboard, and floating translation tools.
