Arcade racing takes flight with fast cars and wild stunts
Asphalt 8: Airborne is a free racing game built around high-speed arcade action rather than realistic driving simulation. It focuses on sharp turns, long drifts, nitro boosts, jumps, and dramatic crashes, making it a good fit for players who want spectacle over precision.
The game offers a broad selection of cars, with many higher-end vehicles unlocked as you progress through races and earn points. The vehicles are presented with strong visual detail and can be repainted, giving the garage some room for personal style. Later updates have added more recognizable performance cars, including models such as the Lamborghini Aventador, Audi R8 LMS Ultra, Ford Mustang Mach E 1400, and Mercedes-Benz AMG GT Black Series.
There is plenty to do across its main modes. Career mode includes eight seasons and 180 events, while quick race mode offers several solo formats, including classic, elimination, duel, infection, ejection, and slalom. Multiplayer supports up to 12 players and includes a ranking system, which gives competitive players a reason to keep improving.
Track design is one of the game’s biggest strengths. Races take place across locations such as Venice, London, Barcelona, Tokyo, Monaco, Nevada, Iceland, the Alps, French Guyana, and Tenerife. Hidden shortcuts encourage replaying circuits, while ramps let cars launch into the air for stunts that define the “Airborne” identity.
Controls are flexible, with options for on-screen input, motion steering, or a combination of both. The visuals are detailed, with strong lighting effects, debris during impacts, and slow-motion moments that make crashes feel more dramatic. The soundtrack is energetic and fits the aggressive racing style.
The main drawback is progression balance, especially in multiplayer, where rewards may not always feel equal to the time invested. Some of the most attractive cars are also not available early.
Overall, Asphalt 8: Airborne is best for players who enjoy flashy arcade racing, car collecting, and stunt-heavy tracks. It is less suited to anyone looking for strict realism or consistently generous rewards.
