Zoom Meetings for Windows is a familiar, easy-to-use video conferencing app built for remote conversations, online meetings, webinars, and team collaboration. Its main strength is that it keeps the essentials close at hand: start a new meeting, join a call, schedule a session, or share your screen from a clear home screen with large, readable controls.

In meetings, Zoom is designed to feel approachable even for less technical users. Participants appear in thumbnail views, while the active speaker is brought forward automatically based on audio detection. The app supports HD video calls, voice meetings, screen sharing, file sharing, and downloadable text transcripts, which can be useful for reviewing discussions after a session. With a stable internet connection, call and video quality are generally strong, although weaker connections can still affect the experience.

Zoom’s free Basic plan is practical for personal use, casual chats, and small group sessions. It supports meetings with up to 100 participants, but group meetings are limited to 40 minutes. One-on-one video calls do not have the same time restriction. Paid plans add more business-focused options, including additional management controls, reporting features, VoIP connectivity in supported markets, and cloud recording.

Security has also become a larger part of the Zoom experience. Hosts can use waiting rooms, meeting passcodes, and domain-based access restrictions to control who enters a call. The platform also includes newer encryption options, including post-quantum end-to-end encryption, aimed at strengthening protection against future threats.

Zoom Meetings is best suited for households, students, remote workers, small businesses, and larger organizations that need a straightforward way to meet online. Its biggest limitation is its dependence on reliable internet, and some useful administrative tools sit behind paid plans. Still, for most Windows users, it remains a capable and accessible choice for everyday video communication.
