Stream Windows sound to Android over WiFi
SoundWire Server is a practical Windows utility for sending your PC’s audio to an Android phone, tablet, or compatible Android TV device over a local network. Its main purpose is simple: whatever sound is playing on your computer can be heard on your Android device, whether it comes from a music app, a browser video, a media player, or another audio source.
The program works by turning your Windows PC into the audio source. You select the sound device, usually the default multimedia device, adjust the volume, and connect from the Android app using the server address or automatic discovery when available. A level meter helps confirm that audio is being transmitted, which makes the setup easier to understand for non-technical users.
SoundWire Server is especially useful if you want to listen to PC audio away from your desk, use headphones connected to your phone, or follow a movie or show playing on the computer with reduced audio delay. It can also be used in more practical ways, such as monitoring sound from a PC microphone, including on a notebook with a built-in mic.
The feature set is modest but useful. It supports Opus audio compression, lets you adjust buffer and compression settings, includes volume and transmission controls, and can handle up to 10 connections at the same time. A Pro Mode displays more precise buffer latency information, which may help users who want to fine-tune delay. The Android side also includes an equalizer for basic sound adjustment.
There are clear limitations. It is designed for Windows and Linux sources, with Raspberry Pi support also mentioned, but it does not support Mac. Android TV use may be less straightforward than phones and tablets. Overall, SoundWire Server is best for users who want a focused, free, no-ad way to mirror PC audio to Android without needing a complicated media streaming setup.
