Hide in plain sight and test your teamwork
Prop Hunt for Windows turns classic hide-and-seek into a team-based first-person game mode built around disguise, observation, and quick decisions. Instead of following a story campaign, each match is structured around two opposing roles: Props and Hunters.
As a Prop, your job is to survive by blending into the map as an everyday object, such as a chair, box, or barrel. At the start of a round, Props get a short preparation window to choose a hiding place. They can also change into different objects, which adds a useful layer of strategy. Picking something that looks natural in the room is often more important than simply hiding in a corner.
Hunters play the opposite role. They search the environment, look for anything suspicious, and attack objects they believe are disguised players. This makes each round a tense guessing game where small details matter. A misplaced barrel or an oddly positioned chair can give a Prop away.
The main strength of Prop Hunt is how easy it is to understand while still encouraging teamwork. Hunters benefit from communication and coordinated searching, while Props need patience, timing, and smart positioning. Time limits keep rounds focused and create pressure for both sides as the clock runs down. Matches can continue across multiple rounds until a win target is reached or the session timer ends.
Its biggest limitation is also important to understand: Prop Hunt is a game mode, not a full standalone experience with a deep plot or complex progression. Players looking for a rich narrative or large feature set may find it narrow. However, for users who want a light, social, and replayable party-style challenge, it offers a fun mix of stealth, problem-solving, and team play. It is best suited to groups who enjoy casual competitive games with simple rules and unpredictable moments.
