Free multiplayer horror with puzzles and survival
PROJECT: PLAYTIME is a free Windows multiplayer horror game built around cooperation, panic, and simple puzzle-solving. Instead of sending one player through a scripted scare-filled story, it puts up to seven people into an abandoned toy factory where teamwork and pressure drive the experience.
The main setup is easy to understand. Six players act as survivors trying to gather seven toy parts and assemble a strange toy. A seventh player controls the monster and tries to stop them before the job is finished. This asymmetrical structure gives the game its strongest hook: one side must communicate, solve puzzles, and stay alive, while the other side hunts and disrupts.
Fans of the Poppy Playtime universe will recognize the setting, tone, and some familiar threats, including Huggy Wuggy and Mommy Long Legs. Boxy Boo also joins the monster lineup, giving the hunter role another identity within the same toy-factory horror style. The atmosphere leans on creepy industrial spaces, recognizable character designs, and the tension of being chased while objectives remain unfinished.
The GrabPack is the key tool for survivor play. Its extendable arms let players interact with objects, handle puzzles, and make use of the environment. This keeps the gameplay from being only about running away, since progress depends on completing tasks under pressure. There is also an in-game currency called Toy Tickets, used by both survivors and monsters to buy upgrades.
The main drawbacks are important. Balance can feel uneven, especially for the monster player, who has to manage six opponents at once even with special abilities. Connection problems have also been reported, particularly when trying to create or join games, which can make the experience less dependable than it should be.
PROJECT: PLAYTIME is best for groups who enjoy multiplayer horror, cooperative objectives, and the Poppy Playtime style of scares. It is less ideal for players looking for a polished solo horror adventure or consistently fair competitive matches.
