Halo Infinite returns with bigger battles and sharper visuals
Halo Infinite for Windows is a first-person shooter that continues Master Chief’s story while expanding the series into a broader, more open structure. Set on Zeta Halo, the campaign brings the Chief back into action with help from the pilot Echo 216 and a new AI known as The Weapon. The main threat is the Banished, supported by familiar enemy types such as Brutes, Grunts, and Jackals.
The campaign mixes traditional Halo-style missions with an open-world map filled with optional objectives. These activities can unlock new weapon loadouts and improve shields, which gives players a practical reason to step away from the main path. It is not a deep exploration game, though. The open areas can feel familiar rather than surprising, and the core loop remains close to classic Halo: move, shoot, survive, repeat.
On Windows, the game benefits from strong visual presentation and PC-focused options, including advanced graphics settings, ultrawide and super ultrawide support, dynamic scaling, variable framerate options, and flexible key binding. The trade-off is that it needs significant storage space and a capable PC to get the best experience.
Combat is helped by a wider weapon selection and the Grappleshot, a useful tool for crossing gaps, grabbing distant weapons, and disrupting enemy shields. It adds welcome movement variety, even if the overall combat is still simpler than some modern shooters.
Multiplayer is a major part of the package and can be played separately from the paid campaign. Arena offers 4v4 modes such as Slayer, Capture the Flag, Strongholds, and Oddball, while Big Team Battle supports larger 24-player fights with vehicles. Map-based equipment like camouflage, dashes, and Grappleshot pickups add variety. However, the ping system is not especially clear, progression can feel slow, and some unfinished multiplayer elements have been associated with serious bugs.
Halo Infinite is best for long-time fans and players who want accessible sci-fi shooting with strong maps, improved weapons, and plenty of multiplayer options. It is less ideal if you expect a highly innovative campaign or complex tactical combat.
