Swing chase and socialize as a VR gorilla

Gorilla Tag for Windows is a simple but unusually physical multiplayer action game built around one idea: move like a gorilla and play tag with other players. Instead of relying on standard movement controls, the game asks you to push, swing, climb, and launch yourself using arm and hand motions in VR. That gives it a playful, active feel, but it also means the learning curve is mostly about body timing rather than button memorization.

The core mode is infection, where one player starts infected and tries to tag others until the infection spreads. Casual mode is more relaxed, giving players space to practice movement, hang out, and socialize. Hunt mode adds a target-based twist, asking you to track another monkey using your wristwatch. You can join public spaces or set up private rooms with friends, which makes the game flexible for both quick social sessions and more focused play.

On Windows, Gorilla Tag is best treated as a VR-first experience. A desktop mode can reduce the need for full VR movement, but the game’s identity and main appeal come from its headset-based locomotion. There are no sticks, teleport options, or traditional shortcuts to master the maps. This makes the game easy to understand but not instantly easy to control, especially for players new to VR.

The low-fi jungle setting keeps the focus on movement and interaction rather than visual complexity. Seasonal updates and cosmetic items, including themed gear and event decorations, add variety without changing the basic formula. Shiny Rocks serve as the in-game currency for cosmetic purchases.

Gorilla Tag is a good fit for VR players who want active multiplayer fun, social play, and a game that feels different from conventional PC titles. Parents may appreciate the non-violent premise, but public lobbies can include unfiltered player behavior, so private rooms or muted chat are safer choices for younger users. Its biggest limitation is also its hook: if you do not enjoy physical VR movement, it may not be for you.
