The main workspace is functional rather than modern. FileZilla uses a split view, with your local folders on one side and the remote server location on the other. This makes it easy to see where files are coming from and where they are going. A transfer queue shows pending jobs, completed transfers, and failed items, which is especially useful when moving many files at once.

For regular use, the Site Manager is one of FileZilla’s strongest features. It lets you save frequently used server details so you do not have to re-enter host, port, username, and password information each time. There is also a QuickConnect option for simpler one-off connections. Bookmarks and remote editing add convenience for users who work with the same folders often.

FileZilla also includes sensible controls for everyday connection issues. If a transfer is interrupted, it can continue from where it stopped once the connection returns. A Keep Alive feature helps maintain links to busy servers, and bandwidth limits let you prevent uploads from using too much of your internet connection. On Windows, FileZilla can also work as a server, which may appeal to more advanced users who need to share files directly.

The trade-offs are clear. The interface looks dated, and users who expect a cloud-style experience may find FTP concepts less familiar. Also, while the free version covers the essential protocols most individuals need, it does not include every protocol that larger businesses or advanced workflows may require.

Overall, FileZilla is best for users who need a reliable, no-nonsense FTP client with strong transfer management and useful saved-site tools. It is not flashy, but it covers the core job well.
