Expand Generals with new campaigns
C&C: Generals Zero Hour is a Windows strategy expansion built for players who already enjoy the tactical pace of Command & Conquer: Generals and want more missions, more variety, and tougher battles. It keeps the familiar three-faction setup of the USA, China, and the Global Liberation Army, but adds enough content to make returning to the battlefield feel worthwhile.
The biggest addition is a set of three new campaigns, with five missions for each faction. These are story-driven scenarios that give returning players a clearer reason to revisit each side. The return of live-action briefing scenes also helps give missions more personality, especially if you liked the presentation style associated with earlier Command & Conquer releases.
Zero Hour also expands the toolset with new units, buildings, and technologies. These additions do not replace the core gameplay, but they do give players more ways to plan attacks, defend bases, and adjust tactics between matches. For solo players, the Generals’ Challenge is a strong extra mode. It sits somewhere between campaign play and skirmish, placing you in a chain of AI battles that become increasingly demanding. The final opponent is especially challenging because it can draw from technologies across factions.
Multiplayer is another key feature, with LAN and internet play supporting matches of up to eight players. This is great for groups who want larger battles, but online play has an important limitation: there is no matchmaking system. That means your experience can vary widely depending on who you face, from casual players to highly experienced opponents or unfair matchups.
Overall, C&C: Generals Zero Hour is best suited to fans of the original game who want more structured missions and tougher tactical scenarios. It is not a complete redesign, but as an expansion, it adds meaningful depth and replay value while keeping the familiar Generals formula intact.
