ASUS Smart Gesture is a free Windows driver utility designed to unlock and manage touchpad gestures on ASUS laptops. Its main purpose is simple: give ASUS users more control over common trackpad actions such as tapping, scrolling, zooming, rotating, dragging, and switching between tasks.

The software is built around a straightforward settings window with three main areas. The Gesture section lets you choose what happens when you use one, two, three, or four fingers on the touchpad. One-finger options cover basic actions like selecting, activating, and dragging. Two-finger controls add more modern laptop behavior, including scrolling, pinch-to-zoom, rotation, and opening a pop-up menu. You can also adjust the scroll direction, which is useful if you prefer either traditional or reversed movement.

For heavier multitaskers, the three and four-finger settings can connect gestures to Windows actions such as task view, notifications, Cortana, or browser page switching. This makes the touchpad feel more capable without needing extra hardware.

A practical bonus is Mouse Detection. When enabled, ASUS Smart Gesture can automatically disable the touchpad when a USB or Bluetooth mouse is connected. This helps prevent accidental cursor movement while typing or using an external mouse. There is also a Mobile Control section tied to ASUS Remote Link, allowing an Android phone or tablet to act as a remote controller over Bluetooth or Wi-Fi.

The interface is easy to understand, with clear categories and default, apply, cancel, and OK controls. However, it is not perfect. User reports have mentioned lag, gesture failures, and occasional malfunctions, so the experience may depend on the specific ASUS laptop and system setup. It is also not useful for non-ASUS machines.

ASUS Smart Gesture is best for ASUS laptop owners who want familiar multi-touch controls and simple touchpad customization. If your gestures already work reliably, you may not need to change anything, but for older ASUS systems with limited touchpad behavior, it can be a worthwhile control panel.
