Monkey

Fast social chats with interest based matches

Monkey is a social networking app built around short, spontaneous conversations with new people. Its main idea is simple: you are matched with another user based on shared interests, then given a brief window to talk, react, and decide whether you want to keep the connection going.

The app centers on live communication. When you are paired with someone, you can see basic profile details such as their username, age, and location, then start a voice or video conversation using the built-in calling system. Each call is designed to be brief, with a 15-second timer that encourages quick introductions. If both sides are interested, the chat can be extended. You can also continue the connection through direct messaging or, where available, Snapchat.

Monkey gives users several ways to interact beyond the initial call. You can send text messages, share images, use video, and pass along posts or links from other social platforms. If you meet someone you like, you can add them inside Monkey, send a direct message from their card, tap a Super Like-style star, or use the “knock” option to reach out without waiting for a video match. There is also a group-oriented feature called 2P Chat, which lets friends meet each other through a shared video chat.

The app’s biggest strength is its low-friction approach to meeting people. The short-call format makes it feel less awkward than a long first conversation, and the mix of video, voice, and text gives users some flexibility.

However, Monkey’s safety tools are not clearly defined. Because matching involves strangers, user behavior can be unpredictable, and not every interaction will be comfortable or appropriate. For that reason, it is best suited to users who understand the risks of open social platforms and prefer quick, interest-based introductions over carefully moderated communities.
