Avast is a free antivirus, malware protection and security tool. Android device users can set up Wi-Fi security within the app that includes encryption for connections on unsecured public Wi-Fi. Users also receive real-time alerts and protection while visiting websites and performing downloads.
As with other security apps, Avast allows users to scan for malware on demand or schedule scans for a preset time. They can scan other apps, their device and any extra storage. They can also see which apps are unprotected on their device on a list and lock down as many as desired. They can set up a blacklist as well to block specific callers and text message senders from making future contact. The app even has a photo vault that makes it possible for them to hide private photographs in encrypted form on their device.
If a user's Android device is lost or stolen, the app's anti-theft tools makes it possible for the user to remotely lock their device and track its GPS coordinates on a map. Additionally, they can remotely erase certain data.
Lastly, Avast offers a wide range of incredibly useful non-security tools. Users can back up logs of their text messages and calls, address book contacts and photographs. They can also check their connection upload and download speeds, delete electronic files and boost their device's RAM within the app.
